Celvin Richardson
Celvin Richardson is a dedicated educator, mentor, public safety advocate, and community leader committed to putting people first through common-sense leadership and service. Raised in a hardworking family, Celvin learned early the values of faith, perseverance, and community. His passion for helping others led him to spend 14 years as a special education teacher, mentoring students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Celvin’s extensive public safety background includes nine years as a juvenile probation officer, service as a Magistrate, and work as a violent crime researcher for the Richmond police department, where he gained firsthand insight into crime prevention, youth intervention, and community safety challenges. His experience working within the justice system strengthened his commitment to safer neighborhoods, violence prevention, rehabilitation, and stronger partnerships between communities and public safety professionals.
He earned a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision in Education and continues serving students today through his work with the Department of Corrections school system.
