Colby Kay

Colby Kay is Senior Vice President of ICON Commercial. Spending nearly twenty (20) years in the Richmond real estate market, Colby currently leads the Commercial division of ICON as Managing Broker also. Since the inception of ICON Commercial (a short few years), Colby has developed client relationships that have resulted in over $10 million in transactions, including standing representations with fundamental entities whose work impacts regional economic development. Though small, ICON Commercial possesses a rich perspective in Commercial Real Estate through their commitment to hire agents and consultants with a diverse background. It is through Colby’s expertise in leadership that ICON Commercial has been on the rise and is a firm to watch.

Beyond his work in Richmond Real Estate, Colby has made several neighborhoods in the city his home, including historic Church Hill, Bellevue, and now Carytown. After completing studies in psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, Colby devoted his career to at-risk youth working in various mentoring roles. This work coupled with his passion for helping people better themselves personally and professionally led to his real estate pursuits. He first spent time on the residential side, drawing upon his knowledge, personal growth experiences, and wit to guide his clients through emotional and fiscal aspects of the real estate process. Now, on the Commercial side of Real Estate, Colby uses that same experience and skills to lead the Commercial division.

Including his educational stint Colby has spent over 30 years making Richmond, Virginia his home. He lives with his wife, Sonya, and their two children in the City of RVA. He is active in the VCU Alumni Association and volunteers in Richmond Public Schools. Taking advantage of all that RVA has to offer, Colby with his family spends time enjoying the James River Park System –mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, rafting and attending the various festivals and live music events.
